LIGHTNING ROUND REVIEW
A hugely entertaining visually-rich hero’s journey that stands firmly on its own as a cool and weird Kung-fu fantasy but fits like a glove into the established MCU, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings features arguably the best villain in the entire series as well as a roundly excellent cast minus the often wooden Simu Liu as the titular hero, is uplifted by a touching and novel central conflict, shines with some remarkable set pieces, showcases it’s own wildly imaginative Wakanda-like magical setting, and is easily a top-tier Marvel flick that instantly earns its seat at the “cool table” in the MCU cafeteria.
