I loved this film. I came for Mikkelsen, but stayed for the loveable characters and interesting plot. I wouldn't say this is high art by any means, but I had a great time with this. It is darkly funny, and tells a great story.
I wonder what the message is in the end. I originally saw this as a cautionary tale, but after thinking on it for a while, it seems there may be more to it than that. I love films from other cultures as it is such an enriching experience, and this holds true for this film. I felt transported to a totally new land to learn different customs.
I haven't seen a film handle the vice of alcoholism in quite this way, with quite the concept behind this.
