A horror that cleverly plays on the seldom said yet ubiquitous fear of non-compliance, be it social norms or survival.
I loved the acting and that gut wrenching sense of dread throughout, the gradual escalation into something we know is coming it's just a question of how we get there very purposefully makes us feel totally helpless. I'm somewhat surprised Ari Aster wasn't involved.
What a harrowing, bleak and unnerving little thing. That's probably the highest compliment I can pay it.
