Matt’s review published on Letterboxd:
If only Cuarón directed 4-8 as well...
This style and this tone is the best for these films. There was so much subtlety in the overall style and so many new things throughout this movie that brings the world building even farther. Wether it’s the kids wearing normal clothes instead of robes, the chamber choir singing in the great hall, dementors, a little Ron and Hermione flirting, new classes like divinations and Hagrid’s handling of magical creatures, the night bus, the leaky cauldron, the shrieking shack etc.
This film is pretty perfect, especially compared to the rest of the series. The wizarding world feels more grounded and fleshed out, the new characters are some of the best in the whole series and the lack of Voldemort actually ends up producing a far more compelling story
