"in the end, we lost this battle too. victory belongs to those peasants, not to us."
an extreme spectacle from start to finish. absolute chaos put to film. i genuinely forgot that a camera was there, filming all of this.
akira kurosowa envisions a world filled with anxiety and war, giving no rest or mental break (aside from its own literal intermission). war itself is unforgiving and relentless. it has no remorse, and no room for mercy.
this was three and a half hours of madness. jesus christ.
what a monster of a film.
