this movie kinda beats you over the head with what its meaning is. if you didnt get it by the end then it'll do its best to tell you...literally. stylistically, its great. the cinematography is gorgeous. some scenes are so brutal and realistic (poor ray liotta). brad pitt is badass with an even more badass goatee. and its always special watching the late great james gandolfini perform. there's something about this movie that makes it unique over the generic mafia movie, but its not all different than what you'd expect.
roger deakins makes this one of the most gorgeous looking bond movies in the daniel craig era. accompanied by some terrific action sequences, daniel craig giving it his a-game as james bond in a story that's more emotionally connecting and javier bardem being one of the best james bond villains not just in james bond movies but in cinema history. it's a great action spy thriller that you can watch even if you aren't in the mood for a james bond movie
