Había visto en su momento la mitad de la película, pero el cansancio me ganó y por eso mismo no la pude terminar. Pero bueno hoy luego de un tiempo me la puse a ver de 0, y dios mío, que película brillante, cruda y que al mismo tiempo te muestra lo que no queremos ver, la realidad misma, sin tapujos. 

“Moonlight” es una crónica de la niñez, la adolescencia y la adultez. Te cuentan la historia de Chiron, un chico que ya desde chico vive en un barrio humilde, que tiene una madre drogadicta y que solamente tiene apoyo de una pareja, se encuentra en un ambiente horrendo y traumático, que lamentablemente hay muchísima gente qué pasa pro escenarios similares.

Quiero hablar sobre varias cosas sobre esta película. Para empezar lo bien que trabajan el tema de las adicciones a las drogas, y acá juega un papel clave la actuación de la madre, el maquillaje y el guion, creo que esas tres cosas hacen que se entienda tan bien el mensaje que quieren transmitir sobre las adiciones y las drogas, que es una cosa totalmente dañina y que es muy complicado salir de eso, y que esas situaciones se dan principalmente en escenarios de gente pobre/humilde como en este caso. La actuación de la madre es brillante, la secuencia en la cual le suplica por dinero a Chiron y que necesita ese dinero para las drogas es pfff, te pone la piel de gallina, es una escena que para entenderla se necesita verla, no es algo que se pueda transmitir por una crítica de Letterboxd. También otra cosa relacionada a la adición de la madre es que la casa de a poco se va vaciando, es algo que no te lo dicen, te tenes que dar cuenta por vos mismo, y vas viendo como la casa de a poco se va quedando sin muebles, sin la tele, sin mesa de comedor, sin cuadros, sin absolutamente nada, es de verdad tétrico y te hace tomar consciencia de donde se puede llegar a terminar por ser adicto a las drogas, es algo muy fuerte.

Por otro lado tratan el tema de Chiron (el protagonista) que es alguien que al final de todo termina igual que muchos, y te muestran que son menos los que salen de situaciones de ese estilo a los que te muestran, que terminan en el éxito total, ese es el 0.1% y que por el capitalismo y por como funciona el mundo: Los prejuicios, la educación, entre otros, es muy complicado salir de esas situaciones, una persona que nace pobre comúnmente muere pobre, y no porque esa persona quiera sino porque ese ambiente no le ayuda en nada. Y bueno te muestran también el caso del compañero de Chiron quien termina trabajando en un café, en una casa diminuta, y que siente que es una persona muy privilegiada por tener eso. Y que también todos terminan en algún momento pasando por la cárcel, es de verdad terrible, pero es la realidad.

Lo último que quiero mencionar es la secuencia en la cual Chiron visita a su madre luego de tanto tiempo. Esa escena me pone la piel de gallina por segunda vez en 2 horas de película. Es muy fuerte y para que el espectador pueda sentir esa escena se necesitan de dos cosas: Un excelente guion y dos actores brillantes, que acá se dan ambas.

En conclusión, es una película que recomiendo al 100%, no falla para nada. Es dura, si la van a ver prepárense para ver una película cruda, que seguramente si te llega te va abrir la cabeza, pero bueno, al final esta es mi opinión y cualquiera puede opinar una cosa totalmente distinta.

I had seen half of the movie at the time, but tiredness won me over and that's why I couldn't finish it. But today after a while I started to see it from 0, and my god, what a brilliant, raw film and that at the same time shows you what we don't want to see, reality itself, without hesitation.

"Moonlight" is a chronicle of childhood, adolescence and adulthood. They tell you the story of Chiron, a boy who since childhood has lived in a humble neighborhood, who has a drug-addicted mother and who only has support from a couple, is in a horrendous and traumatic environment, that unfortunately there are many people who happen in similar scenarios.

I want to talk about several things about this movie. To begin with how well they work on the issue of drug addictions, and here the mother's performance, makeup and the script play a key role, I think that those three things make the message they want to convey about additions and drugs so well understood, that it is a totally harmful thing and that it is very difficult to get out of it, and that those situations occur mainly in The mother's performance is brilliant, the sequence in which she begs Chiron for money and that she needs that money for drugs is pfff, it gives you goosebumps, it is a scene that to understand it you need to see it, it is not something that can be transmitted by a review of Letterboxd. Also another thing related to the addition of the mother is that the house is slowly being emptied, it is something that they do not tell you, you have to realize for yourself, and you see how the house is slowly running out of furniture, without the TV, without the dining table, without paintings, without absolutely nothing, it is really gloomy and makes you aware of where you can

On the other hand they deal with the subject of Chiron (the protagonist) who is someone who at the end of everything ends up like many, and they show you that there are less who come out of situations of that style than those who show you, who end up in total success, that is 0.1% and that because of capitalism and how the world works: Prejudices, education, And well, they also show you the case of Chiron's partner who ends up working in a cafe, in a tiny house, and who feels that he is a very privileged person for having that. And that everyone also ends up going through jail at some point, it's really terrible, but it's the reality.

The last thing I want to mention is the sequence in which Chiron visits his mother after such a long time. That scene gives me goosebumps for the second time in 2 hours of film. It is very strong and for the viewer to feel that scene, two things are needed: An excellent script and two brilliant actors, who both happen here.

In conclusion, it's a movie that I recommend 100%, it doesn't fail at all. It's hard, if you're going to see it, get ready to watch a raw movie, which surely if it hits you will open your head, but well, in the end this is my opinion and anyone can say a totally different thing.
