"What a life, what a night
What a beautiful, beautiful ride"
Entertaining one! This is probably the most unique way to portrait a midlife crisis. A journey with Mads Mikkelsen as a history teacher & his colleague from being boring, lifeless to exciting & interesting through alcohol was certainly an amazing ride.
Experimenting the theory of some Norwegian philosopher, 4 of them was actually trying deal with anxiety, fear, midlife-crisis and overall, reality. By distracting and losing the fear, they tried to do something more energetic, something more enthusiastic. So that, they could get back their confidence. But I believe, maintaining a certain level of drinking alcohol isn't that easy.
Anyway, the best part of this film was certainly Mads performance. I will be very glad if he gets nominated for Academy Award for Best Actor. Music was very good. Cinematography seemed very pleasant. Also, portraying writing or reading something on screens through 'Cut to black' was interesting. Moreover, the last 5-minutes of the film were totally LIT. So amaaazing. Mads just won my heart. (This was my 2nd film of him. The first one was Doctor Strange :3)
Another Round is made with simple, crowd-pleasing skill. It doesn't shy away from depicting the usefulness and the disadvantage of alcohol properly. Though the story is a bit predictable, It's definitely one of the finest films of the year.
