    V/H/S/94

    ★★½

Almost every short has a great moment, except for the awful wraparound segment with SWAT, but none were really enjoyable the whole way through. The ending of Drain was awesome, the creature designs of the mad scientist part were very cool, and Wake built up some nice, slow burn atmosphere, but I never really felt any of them stuck the landing.

  • Moon Knight

    Moon Knight

    ★★★

I hurts me to not give this 5 stars. I expected to after the first episode. I've always loved Moon Knight in the comics, he's one of my favourite characters, love the costume, love the mythology. But even though there were a couple of great performances in this, I just couldn't get into the series as much as I expected to.

  • Inseminoid

    Inseminoid

    ★★½

People run around and come up with plans, which I don't seem to understand, but assume they went badly because they usually end up dead, and I have no idea where anyone is at any time or why they are doing it. Including the alien. But I will say that it was a good idea having the blonde woman play the alien, because I think I would've really laughed at this movie if that alien they trotted out was running…

  • Rogue

    Rogue

    ★★★

I would complain about the cg lions, but I'm kind of glad they were cg when I saw what was being done to them at the beginning. It looks really fake, but better than having a real lion trying to eat Megan Fox.

This is a little too melodramatic and is really trying to get a message across, but on the other hand, there's a lot of people being shot AND being chomped by a lion, so it's hard to completely hate on it. Too bad the blood spray was also heavily cg.

    ★★★★★

I really wanted to stay home today and watch a bunch of Friday the 13th movies, but alas, it was not meant to be. Stupid job!

At least I was able to cram in one of my favourites. So...Happy Friday The 13th everyone!! 🔪🔪🔪

  • Deep Blood

    Deep Blood

    ★★

I actually watched this movie a few months ago and apparently forgot to log it, and forgot that I had watched it. I'm honestly not surprised. Even as I was watching, it took me a while to be sure I'd seen it.

The only time I was really invested in this movie was at the start when a kid and his mom go into to water to swim, leaving their adorable puppy onshore. I was yelling at the puppy to…

  • The Curse of La Llorona

    The Curse of La Llorona

    ★★½

I was pretty frustrated how incompetent the ghost killer of children was at killing children, but the kids were likable enough so I was happy she was sucky at it. Linda Cardellini is always likable so that really helped me to at least get into this, but it's pretty generic. Better than I was expecting, and totally watchable on a dark and stormy evening, but there will be no real surprises except for how the ex-priest could not think about putting protection beads across the back door as well.

First I watched a black and white version that had no intertitles and was scored to "Ode to Joy". Then I watched a version that had a live score and was partially colourized and actually had a few intertitles, which slightly helped me to know what was going on. Slightly.

Both version had amazing costumes and just general fantastic visuals. I didnt really know what was happening most of the time, but a big old Hell parade with floats and demons frolicking amongst them is my idea of a great time.

  • Land Shark

    Land Shark

    ★★

Not only does the shark swim on land, but it actually can swim backwards. Neat.

I can see why they needed such a large cast because once the shark starts eating people, it's pretty much non stop for the entire movie. Too bad most of the kills were bland, CGI fests. I liked the design of the shark though.

Weird thing is, they were playing this all seriously, except for the annoying comic relief guy, they were taking this seriously!…

  • Island of the Fishmen

    Island of the Fishmen

    ★★★★

    30. Watch a horror film featuring a hot and sunny location.

The actual IotF cut, not the Screamers version.

I loooove the Fishmen. I think they look great and this movie would've benefited from a few more fishmen attack scenes. Low rent almost terrifying, but also sort of cute.

Damn, this really did feel like a James Bond movie at times, especially near the end when the bad guy is about to shoot our hero in the head but decides,…

  • Last Night in Soho

    Last Night in Soho

    ★★★½

    1. Let’s thank johnconn for hosting last month’s hunt. To show our appreciation watch a horror movie johnconn’s given 4 stars or higher.

Felt a little too style over substance for me. some really nice style at times though. I really kept expecting this to turn into a musical and I'm not sure why. I'd never really seen Thomasin McKenzie before but she's kind of wonderfully charming. And Anya is an actress I'm always happy to see, so totally worth watching for the two leads and some nightmarish visuals.

    19. Watch the film you believe to be your biggest horror movie blindspot.

Ok, so over the years I've always thought that this movie had been spoiled for me. I'd heard many, many times about what I thought to be the plot twist....turns out it was never that big of a secret. I apologize to everyone over the years that I cursed out under my breath for spoiling this movie. There is no real spoiling this movie, except maybe a choice made at the end.

138 minutes that just flew by. It was a wonderful movie.
