Willow Fae’s review published on Letterboxd:
Random thoughts I had while watching this because I'm too tired to write a coherent review:
The title card font is the ugliest thing I've ever seen
Heather Langenkamp is BACK baby
Patricia Arquette fuck yeah
Laurence Fishburne is in this and he was going by Larry Fishburne at the time oh my Lord :D
Soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti!!
I love her wallpaper..
Ooh production value is much higher this time!
Is this the one where Freddy starts being super sassy?
Well goddamn, young Laurence Fishburne is a whole ass snack
I've talked to tons of mental health professionals in this life and these are the worst I've ever seen
The moment when Nancy tells the kids she knows who Freddy is and the look on their faces because finally someone sees them and takes them seriously.. goosebumps y'all
I need me one of those light pendulums
Neil Gordon is a boring and annoying character and I'm quickly loosing all interest when he's the focus of a scene
As much as I like the setting and the relatively creative dream scenes (although I keep thinking, I want to see a NoES remake/sequel made by Tarsem Singh, with his truly surreal The Cell dream aesthetics *_*), and as much as I relate to its themes, this kinda failed to hold my attention after a while. It's definitely very competent and the plot is very coherent and thought through, but maybe that's the problem I have with it, it's all a bit too neat and tidy and predictable.
Also I kinda hated how the solution in the end is Christianity.. Blehrg.
Oh and the Freddy skeleton in the end had me laughing out loud with how badly it was animated, kinda charming actually!
