Finally getting the chance to watch this as it’s getting awards buzz. And it does fully deserves all the buzz.
The acting from both main leads Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield are phenomenal! They both deserves the nominations that they received. BUT both in best supporting actor for the Oscars???? LaKeith should have been in best actor, he is the main lead actor imo. While Daniel bought raw and power to his performance especially when he delivers speeches. Still very happy that both are nominated. Jesse Plemons is also very good.
This is a film that gets better the longer it goes on. I wasn’t a fan of the first half. Bit slow, but I understand why; building the story up, making us understand the stakes that’s at risk... My god, that second half just elevates it up quite a lot. Which bought the rating up. The story focuses more on Bill O’Neil (LaKeith) rather than Fred Hampton (Daniel) which lead back to my point that LaKeith should have been in the main actor category.
I can see why this is getting high reviews. But for me, it’s very good. Nothing special. But I can see why this is a awards contender.
