i still can't understand how anno's live action camera work is so kamen rider-esque creative while his animated movies are a bunch of bullshit on the screen until they end. the fight scenes make me want to watch jojos and the yaoi makes me want to watch ouran high school host club.

m night has the same relationship with mentally ill people that the farrellys have with disabled people, but this doesn't explore the translation of his precious late 90s/early 00s mise to digital half as successfully as Dumb and Dumber To did for P & B. it's still pretty fun but m's trying to see what he can keep, not what he can gain, there's a lot of bullshit "i've still got it" tension moments that early m would have never bothered with, and there's nothing like the basement scene on Signs where cutting is dictated by a flashlight.
