Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 2023
Can you imagine? A Spider-Man movie turning out to be one of the best animated, comic book and, at this point, movies in general, really? There was just absolutely no way. I was wrong, thankfully.
“Que Dios te bendiga.”

High Fidelity 2000
"I'm tired of everything else, for that matter. But I don't ever seem to get tired of you."
High Fidelity is a film that the heart of the impassioned music lover is transplanted into a romantic comedy. In this film of heart break, betrayal, true friendship and love, John Cusack adapts Nick Hornby's book perfectly, melding self doubt, fear of death, a search for truth with modern cinema and pop music.
The film follows Rob Gordon (John Cusack) who's a…

A Knight's Tale 2001
"I love you. There is nothing else to do. Run and I will run with you."
A Knight's Tale is one of the wittiest, funniest and most enjoyable films I've seen to date. Whether it's because of its hilarious characters, amazing script or '70s-'80s hits that are juxtaposed to the medieval era. I've never seen a film that keeps its medieval identity while blasting "We Will Rock You" out of contemporary instruments.
The film is set in the 14th century…

The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans 2009
This movie is a blast. Nicholas Cage is even more unhinged than usual, and gives a hell of a performance. The last 15 minutes I could imagine being divisive, I personally loved it. I highly recommend this movie, it is a ton of fun.

War of the Worlds 2005
(Succession Sundays Season 4 #6/10)
Never really understood the hype for this, now don’t get me wrong, I can never hate Spielberg, but I felt like this was mismatched and disappointing. War of the Worlds begins as a provocative look at how terror affects family and community, that is, something more complicated than an explosion movie, but….was it? The ideas are there, and everyone including Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning do a great job, but I felt like this was…

Chess in Concert 1989
With U.S.-Russia relations the way they are again, it's high time that this musical was revisited and turned into a film since it no longer feels so dated. It has to be my favorite musical, music-wise, and only my second favorite overall. In a just world, this would be much better-known than it is. If only they could fix those book problems. I know they are not insurmountable. This Swedish concert (in English) offers the best of both worlds, with…

The Covenant 2023
When it comes to The Covenant, nothing really stood out to me when it came to its trailers. With Guy Richie attached to this I was sure this would be yet another addition to his duds that he’s put out recently. To my surprise, this was the complete opposite and probably one of the best movies he’s put out in recent years. It’s not all perfect but this movie feels like the perfect blend between a gritty war/army movie and…
