Everything about this movie, save for a few bits of dialogue, is way better than it needs to be. Crash McCreery's concept design is wonderful; pacing, cinematography, sound, and color — all very very good.
Also, I've never seen a more effective use of constantly switching aspect ratios.
This reminded me of Pacific Rim—a "dumb" movie made "smartly".
