HyperNormalisation

HyperNormalisation ★★★★

Another Sunday night of watching Adam Curtis instead of Euphoria. A nice (can you call it that?) refresher on global politics from an extremely insulated period of time in my life, i.e. suburban youth in 21st century America. Dissonant internet news memories from years past all finally locking into place… why did I care so much about the green ketchup at Burger King or unlocking all of the camos in Modern Warfare 3? I was reading about the Arab Spring using the same Twitter account on which I discussed those niche, eventually meaningless obsessions, and I’d all but memory-holed the former. And things have only been even more the same since 2016, as Ukraine is on the brink of a full Russian invasion, and I jot down my thoughts on a documentary, and my whole timeline watches Euphoria.
