Ah yes, Saint Sebastian, the most homoerotic of the saints. Arousing many young gay men since the 1400s. (It's true! Look it up.)
The short made me think about all the dangerous lengths young gay boys put themselves through to fulfill the basic desire for sex. Most straight boys have safe avenues for sex - it's all available all around them. For young gay people the options are a lot more limited, just ask one what Grindr is.

Monster 2023
Absolutely stunned by Hirokazu Kore-eda's Monster. Sakura Ando is a force in the first act, Hinata Hiiragi and Soya Kurokawa lmade left me completely emotionally devastated in the third. It's so compassionate for all its characters despite the misunderstandings between them.
Kore-eda treats childhood companionship as something sacred - its felt through the world they make for themselves, the music, the acting. It's so special.
The film is dedicated to Ryuichi Sakamoto and features his final score which was so touching.
