No, or the Vain Glory of Command

an unflinching look at the ghosts of portuguese past and how this clinging to nostalgia has shaped its national identity. ambitiously epic in its structure, yet still managing to remain morose with nihilistic musings from downtrodden soldiers fighting a losing war. perhaps still manages to glorify the history a bit while skimming over a sizeable amount of horrors, but not without a good dose of contempt at the sheer pointlessness of our imperialistic narrative. good 25 de abril watch.
