    what’s better than this

  • For a Good Time, Call...

    For a Good Time, Call...

It’s not like I would ~recommend this, but it was surprisingly better than I thought it would be! Though it could’ve been gayer!! Girl boss alert!!

  • Predator

    doing my homework 😤

  • Taxi Driver

    Taxi Driver

so visually stunning, but what’s up with this guy, am i right?

  • Eyes Wide Shut

    Eyes Wide Shut

  • Nope

Thinking initially about taming impossible things— horrific events that we sanitize and domestication/exploitation of wild animals for our own benefit. There‘s a lot more here at play and I’m excited to think about it more. Peele is showing off his visual and sonic chops at disturbing and exciting levels.

  • John Wick: Chapter 2

    John Wick: Chapter 2

I’m so into the world building of this franchise. Where you may wonder how John isn’t dead yet, this underground society has the structure and rules and honor system to make you suspend your disbelief. Keanu is exquisite as usual here, and the movie overall decided exactly what it set out be, then sticks the landing.

Kinda checks all my topical boxes
Oftentimes I think a movie could go without the VO, but this one really benefits from it. A masterful use of sound design in a movie so centered on it. Loved the weird pseudo-Victorian costumes, and the slimy gooey splatters of food

  • Lost Highway

    Lost Highway

Watched a 4K remaster opened by a video of Lynch himself. It was gorgeous the whole way through.

I could never have come up with a soundtrack like this, for a movie like this. Lots to think about re: delusion and fantasy, our insecurities about who we think we might be.

  • Crimes of the Future

    Crimes of the Future

I wanted to looooove this and I thought I would but it feels like Croney just wrote down the different camps on the issue of bodies evolving this rapidly and then explained them in a lot of words onscreen. What’s worse is that it took so long for it all to come together and make sense. Despite that I think conceptually it was reaching for something really interesting (hey ear man), and was at its best when it was weird and bodily like we all love these movies to be.
I’d like to come back to this again sometime when I’m not so tired!!

  • Showgirls

I didn’t know that a lot of people find this to be a bad movie but I liked it a lot so all those people are probably wrong. Elizabeth Berkeley is an obvious stand-out and I think we should talk about that more. Sexy, yes, but also a little sinister and tragic and emotional.
also Verhoeven is definitely a Boob Guy

  • John Wick

    John Wick

I wasn’t prepared for how impacted I was by that dog. cool awesome movie though keanu is such a treat to watch
