Like many of Anderson's films, I love virtually everything here, from the cast to the visuals to the pacing and the music, but I also find it hard to truly love this film like I do with some of his others. I think there's something missing here that I can't quite grasp, so every revisit reminds me how fantastic it is on pretty much every front, but how I still can't fully embrace it like so many people can. I want to say it's something about the storyline, and the distance I occasionally feel towards it, leaving me to find some of the narrative quite cold despite its thematic strength, but I'm ultimately unsure. I’m confident I'll figure it out at some point, but for now I still find it a marvellous film that doesn’t quite hit me as much as Anderson’s best.
