“i don’t think that marty is a director, he really is a person that generates the energy behind everything that is accomplished in a film and i would think that a director of his stature only makes one film. so, who’s that knocking, mean streets, taxi driver, alice are all parts of one film of the way one man feels.” - john cassavetes
a movie that makes you wonder if french white people were really so condescending about their privilege in the 60s or if it’s just godard. sure he could he criticizing all that but even as critique this movie is so??? anyways jean-pierre léaud is so incredibly hot in this. jean pierre smoking? hot. jean pierre drinking water? hot. jean pierre eating bread? hot. jean pierre breathing? hot. post-modern capitalist thoughtless society is made of labels and godard’s label is boring just as much as jean-pierre léaud’s label is hot.
