Regardless of its mistakes, Scream was always a movie that I really liked, plus it was one of the first horror movies I ever saw.
Work with me, I was 8 years old.

The introductory scene is key, the harassment and eventual murder of Drew Barrymore's character set the tone of the entire movie. Now in my bitter adulthood I would have liked a darker tone but I guess for its times it was very functional.

Neve Cambell ended up as a scream queen and the movie turned cult for its metafiction references, it wasn't something fresh but it was different enough to stand out.

And let's not talk about the incredibly simplistic but iconic disguise of the murderers. Ghostface is iconic and even if you have not seen the movies, you recognize that mask.

In fact in my country the title of the movie was Scream: The Mask of Death, simple yes, but certainly functional.
