One of the huge bets within this year's blockbusters was not as spectacular or even as epic as expected.
Kong: Skull Island is the new entry into the so-called Monsterverse and the truth is that the introduction fell short.
The film is entertaining but also very simplistic especially in the development of characters
Every one, absolutely every character is useless and merely irrelevant.
Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson have zero chemistry and they became Kong's defenders because she touched his nose?
All the soldiers are there merely to die, John Goodman is completely wasted and Samuel L. Jackson is a cliche and dumb character driven by a fake vengeance and that's pretty much it.
John C. Reilly is just a comedic relief, a shame.
The action and the visual effects are great, other than that Kong: Skull Island is just a film to watch on a weekend if there isn't something better.
And watching the post-credits scene, seriously unless they make a bigger and more brutal Kong, he has nothing to do against Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah.
