Everything that has to do with the production is simply something on another level and there will be always a before and after for 3D because of this movie.
Avatar innovated in all the technical aspects but its story was simplistic, I didn't needed a recreation of Pocahontas in an spacial environment. That will always be the stigma of this movie, the story.
And personally Avatar did not require sequels, but ... $$$$$$$.
