Night of the Living Dead

Night of the Living Dead ★★★★

2020’s 63rd movie • 84/100

Night of the Living Dead doesn’t have the best cinematography, direction, performances and production, principally because it’s an independent project made in the 60s, but the plot and movie themselves are way ahead of their time. It has a black person as the leading character, an unpredictable ending and it’s not a cliché story.

With a $114,000 budget, George A. Romero’s movie is better than most of the horror movies released in recent years. Also, it’s crazy to think that this was released in the same year that the Hays Code was banned. I imagine how many masterpieces would’ve existed if it wasn’t for that damn ridiculous code.
