    2022 Films Ranked

DreamWorks really waited almost 12 years to make one of the greatest animated sequels of all time.  This was amazing.

Firstly, I adore the animation style.  The 2.5D animation looks so cool and is completely different from all of DreamWorks past animated films.  The colours are so vibrant and the detail in the characters’ faces is insane.  It’s crazy how much animation has developed in the past decade since the last Shrek film and the first Puss…

    Shrek Forever After

It’s overall better than the third one but it definitely lacks in its comedic flare.  The plot is much stronger, feeling almost like a Shrek version of It’s a Wonderful Life and I also think it’s the darkest any of these Shrek films have ever gone.

It’s not even close to as good as the first two but it’s a bit better that the third due to it’s stronger plot.  It just lacked in charisma which the first two were so full of.

Ok, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish time.

    The Social Network

Decided to watch another one of my favourites today.  The Social Network, is a masterclass in editing, directing, and writing, and should have been the film to give Fincher his much overdue Oscar.

I don’t think I’m alone when I say I love this movie.  It’s low-key filmmaking at its finest.  Subtle but executed to perfection.  No shot, scene, or line of dialogue feels out of place or unnecessary, everything is calculated and purposeful.  This film arises a similar feeling that…

    The Thing

    Wow, just wow.

Words cannot describe how awesome this movie is.  I can’t believe it took me this long to finally watch it.  It’s terrifying, brutally gruesome, and has some of the best practical effects I have ever seen.  The animatronics and puppets used in this film are out of this world, and truly disturbing.  John Carpenter directs this film to perfection creating a very creepy tone throughout that just settles into you, (similar to the feeling I get when…
