Sick

Sick ★★★

Surprised and delighted to see Kevin Williamson’s name in the screenplay credit with this return to the slasher genre that he knows all too well.

Look, we were bound to get some Covid horror films and what will be interesting to see is if we will ever want to revisit them because of how much it will remind us of those early quarantine days. It mostly works because Williamson and Katelyn Crabb are able to pepper in some dark humor amidst the pandemic chaos and horror. The film settles in nicely into its single location setting, offering enough slashing and scares to keep the viewer entertained.

It hardly rewrites the book and is definitely a few notches below the superior Host, but this is a fun little slasher romp that has a crisp 80 minute runtime.
