• Candyman

    Candyman

    ★★½

this movie will forever be tainted by the memory of my millennial sister having a 1.5 hour sociopolitical debate w/ my boomer mother in the movie theater parking lot afterward.

    dope opening credits though.

  • Kill List

    Kill List

    ★★★★

Kill List is an interesting horror-thriller that isn’t talked about enough. I think it was probably Elric Kane’s pretentious ass that recommended this one on a “top horror films of the 2010’s” podcast episode or something. very happy I decided to see this, as it has a last act which is legit among the scariest things I’ve seen this year 👏👏👏

  • Goodnight Mommy

    Goodnight Mommy

    ★★★½

minimalistic, yet effectively unnerving. this film has a handful of indelible sequences I quite liked. plus I am legitimately disgusted by cockroaches, so yeah *pukes*

  • Tetsuo: The Iron Man

    Tetsuo: The Iron Man

    ★★★½

High praise is given to the frenetic trip that is Tetsuo, & understandably so. But I seemed to enjoy it most during the 1st however-many-mins (when the film was at it's most subtle). Director Tsukamoto gets wildly experimental, which I can dig... but this just ain't Lynch's Eraserhead, as most tend to compare it to 🤷‍♂️

  • We Need to Talk About Kevin

We Need to Talk About Kevin

    ★★★★

Tilda Swinton just stares blankly throughout the whole film & somehow I’m captivated by her performance.

  • The Haunted Mansion

    The Haunted Mansion

    ★★

the mausoleum scene was lit but otherwise ur probably better off watching Hocus Pocus if ur feeling a live-action spooky Disney film.

  • The Addams Family

    The Addams Family

a cash-grab turd w/ so much wasted potential. also, hideous character designs 🤮

  • Maniac

    Maniac

    ★★★★

whoa, a horror remake that doesn’t suck! Maniac (2012) is a polished version of it’s predecessor, while still maintaining the sleazy essence of the original. the 1st person gimmick could have gotten old quickly if not for the camerawork, which manages to stay engaging throughout.

  • Dolls

    Dolls

    ★★★

the killer teddy scene was absolute KINO. like, how was Stu gonna top that?? the rest of the film is just okay tbh.

  • Would You Rather

    Would You Rather

    ★★★★

Jeffrey Combs is the bad guy & he’s sooo good at it. what a shithead. & human torture makes me feel bad, sure, but the horror of uncertainty is effective here. I was pleasantly surprised by this.

  • Truth or Dare

    Truth or Dare

    ★★★½

this film was dumb af but the fun kinda dumb that keeps u grinning like one of them Truth or Dare demons 😂

  • Session 9

    Session 9

    ★★★

beware the spooky, ominous wheelychair 🦽 😱
