Troy L’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Laurie, what's the boogeyman?"
The plot is so simple but yet, very effective. There was no need for buckets of blood. It focused more on the suspense and evoking fear into the eyes of the viewers, which is did successfully!
John Carpenter's amazing lighting techniques, the dark and beautiful cinematography, the eerie score, Jamie Lee Curtis (The Scream Queen) who gives an excellent performance as (Laurie Strode), and the voice of Donald Pleasence (Dr. Loomis) telling us this haunting story about a soulless human being who has the darkest eyes, and is nothing but pure evil--has given us all one of the best damn slashers ever made, and has brought out a wave of iconic Horror films as well.
The Shape will return in the new Halloween film. I'm not expecting it to blow me away or be better than the original, I'm just simply asking for it to be good. I would truly be satisfied with that 🎃
