Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol 2011
Ghost Protocol is definitely a childhood classic. Great set pieces and more humour than the rest, courtesy of Simon Pegg, the fourth installment is thoroughly entertaining but slightly too safe narratively. Even though Cruise scaled the Burj and Renner dived into a cavernous vent, the overall dialogue was safe. Mission: Impossible III 2006
Upon embarking on rewatching this third installment for the one hundredth time - I went into it remembering a few things; Phillip Seymour Hoffman was a good antagonist, Tom Cruise has more weight behind his character and the overall flamboyancey of trademark insane action was streamlined. Heartwarming. Mature. Recycled. The newest installment of Pinocchio adaptations takes us on wildly different ride than the traditional ones with a strong sense of self identity and nuanced artistic choices. I mean, David Bradley is more endearing as Gepetto than Disney's recent rehash courtesy of the withering Tom Hanks. Anyway, the film works in it strides when it goes full Del Torro and only partially suffers when the stakes are played with like a game of tug-of-war.
