My Neighbor Totoro

My Neighbor Totoro ★★★★

There are a ton of quote unquote “kids movies” that never truly feel like they were made with children in mind. Movies where the children act more like how adults see children rather than how children actually act. “My Neighbor Totoro” is the perfect kids film in this regard.

Rarely do movies feel like they capture the feeling -the true innocence - of being a kid. The two girls in “Totoro” are adorable, running amok and giggling themselves silly. They move into a house in the country with their father while their mother is in a hospital, and soon meet the titular Totoro, a large, fuzzy creature that lives in a tree.

(As an important side note, I tend to dislike animated films. Just my personal tastes, really. That said,  I thoroughly enjoyed this film.)
