Beautiful, magical, transcendent. Those are just a few words I would use to describe Spirited Away. Although I don't think a single word in the English language can truly describe what this film means to me. Spirited Away came to me at a time in my life where I had forgotten where my passions lay. Watching the film for the first time, I was reminded of why movies are my passion. For the longest time,…

Day 2: Watch a movie by someone who shares your birthday or sign (Richard Donner)

Lethal Weapon 2 abandons most of the heart that made the first movie work so well in favor of something far more heightened. From the opening car chase filled with car stunts and explosions, the film doesn't let up in delivering insane action set pieces until the very end. The comedy is also incredibly over-the-top, referencing Looney Tunes and The Three Stooges…

In his first solo work, Joel Coen infused his retelling of Macbeth with an avant-garde, German expressionist-inspired look and atmosphere. The look of the film gives it an almost otherworldly quality. Each performance works incredibly well, with confident line deliveries that deliver Shakespeare's dialogue with enough vigor to make this story work onscreen. Shakespeare's dialogue still alienates me and keeps me from being wholly invested in this story. But for what it is, this is a bold solo effort from Joel Coen.

Watched this in the cinema, and it was a magical experience, mostly due to how magnificent of a movie this is. I walked into this film knowing absolutely nothing about it, and I was entranced, for the most part, from beginning to end.

This is my first film by Cartoon Saloon, and I had heard beforehand that they made great looking films, but I underestimated their talents. To put it simply Wolfwalkers is a gorgeous film to look at. You…

No Country for Old Men works on many levels. It showcases the Coen Brothers' keen talent for providing tight, nail-biting tension for two hours. The film uses its lack of a score to emphasize every sound, from footsteps to the cocking of a gun, to create a restrained tension that keeps the viewer locked in for the entire runtime. Javier Bardem's performance as Anton Chigurh aids in this, as his portrayal of a methodical killer is…
