Juliet of the Spirits

Juliet of the Spirits ★★★½

Juliet of the Spirits continues Fellini's 60s run of surrealist cinema and while this is certainly up there for being Fellini's most visually appealing picture, its many components don't conjoin, thus creating 2-3 different movies in the process that merely cross paths occasionally. Giulietta Masina is splendid here, but even her character, while complex in her own right, feels sort of underdeveloped. Perhaps i just need another few watches before i really understand this though.
