This insanity should get either 0 star of 500 stars – I honestly couldn’t say. Bad Boys II opens up a space beyond conventional star ratings.

So, I'm watching this film and my mom very seriously asks me "Isn't that the fish guy? David Mimosas?"

Thor might be the most tragic character in the whole of the MCU: he’s lost everyone, and everything he’s ever loved or cared about. So, what do Marvel do? They make him a joke to be fucking laughed at.

At this point, the MCU is fast becoming undone by pointless films with wafer thin plots and characters that they don’t understand how to represent on screen. Whilst I had some fun with Love and Thunder, like all of the films post  Endgame, I’m left with a feeling of inertia. Perhaps it’s time for something new, Marvel. If not, I’m out.

  • Thor: Love and Thunder

    Thor: Love and Thunder 2022

    Zack Heisey

★★½ Watched by Zack Heisey 09 Jul 2022

While there is some fun to be had here, this is a pretty major comedown from Ragnarok. Taika falls off the tonal tightrope that he’s been walking his whole career. Mixing cancer drama with quirky action comedy with the freaky Gorr stuff doesn’t really congeal.

But there is some good stuff, too. The shadow realm fight was dope and Christian Bale is absolutely eating when he is actually on screen. I really like Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie but she really didn’t…
