Scream

Scream ★★★★★

Out of all the films I could immediately compare Wes Craven’s ingenious genre-savvy Scream to, it strangely brings Robert Altman’s superbly idiosyncratic 1973 neo-noir The Long Goodbye to my mind first; it perfectly blurs the lines between being a parody, a deconstruction and a textbook example of its own genre. One of my favourite films of the 1990s, and a particularly formative film for me.
