Lewis’s review published on Letterboxd:
There’s definitely an audience for Malignant, but I’m not it.
Maybe it’s because I’ve seen a movie or two in the the last year that had pretty much the same plot (they also were not great), but Malignant’s tricks were pretty obvious from the beginning. Familiarity isn’t inherently a bad thing, but here, there’s really nothing to offer if the story doesn’t surprise you. Malignant is not scary or entertaining enough to make it more than a tedious drag. It looks great and had some solid camerawork, but that’s about all the compliments I can muster.
There’s the potential for an absurd and bloody good time in this movie, but it’s unfortunately buried too deep under the surface.
