For a very long time, I always considered the Huey Lewis scene from American Psycho to be my favourite scene from any film. That is until I saw this. Officer K in the snow became my new favourite scene. I remember watching it in the cinema first time, I could feel my friend’s eyes burning into me, because mine were burning a hole in the screen. I didn’t know what to say afterwards (unusual for me), I was utterly, completely mesmerised by that. I still am. The coolness, the calmness, the sadness I felt but the contentment in K’s eyes. It is such a heavy scene yet so light. The only mildly artistic thing I could liken it to is if you were to watch a singular snowflake flutter to the ground, but that snowflake had a little bit of blood on it. It’s devastatingly beautiful. The ending of this film is one of the best endings I’ve ever seen and that I’m convinced I ever will see.
