This is an ambitious flick from Spike Lee, and while I love elements of it, some are just a tad too messy for my liking. The performances are all solid and it has one of the most energetic openings I've seen in forever. You instantly love the characters and the friendship is so believable from the get go.

There's quite a bit of action in this film and some is well done, some isn't. The pacing is a tad off in places and it fessl like this would have worked far better as a miniseries, as there's so much that Lee wants to delve into but the 155 minute runtime feels almost too short. Also, the script occasionally falters but it's only the odd line.

Still, this is yet another striking film from the man, has an important message which couldn't have come at a more relevant time, some great performances and cinematography, I just wish it was a miniseries or half an hour longer.
