"Fuck Seattle."
A solid directorial debut from Michael Sarnoski. Pig is a somber meditation on the many faces of loss and not at all the revenge-thriller that many expected it to be. The film's take on grief is handled with such a sobering empathy—a very refreshing perspective to see given the current state of our world. I loved every emotion it had to offer.
It's been quite some time since I was in theater where everyone left in stunned silence. Not one comment of "That movie was ____!". Just pure silence. That ending will be swirling around in my brain for quite a while. It's wonderful change of pace that has me hopeful about this movie year finishing out stronger than it started. I definitely didn't wake up today thinking that Nicholas Cage would have me upset over a pig, but here I am..
