    Come for Julianne Moore's disturbingly manipulative abuser, stay for Natalie Portman's borderline-sociopathic bad actress, leave thinking about Charles Melton's broken boy in a man's body, finally realizing that he was a victim the whole time. Todd Haynes is the only modern filmmaker making old-fashioned movies (i.e. meticulously crafted melodramas) and I mean that in a good way.
