    The human narrative is so compelling I almost forgot it was in a Godzilla movie at times, but then Godzilla would show up in some of the most compelling monster sequences ever filmed. It was so good seeing Godzilla as an unequivocal force of death and destruction again.

    Has there ever been a funnier person stuck in a worse string of lifeless films? The movie is fine in a bland, tasteless Hallmark Christmas kind of way, but McCarthy is so charming and likable she almost makes the whole thing enjoyable. Almost.
