Kati’s review published on Letterboxd:
Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance as a hot-around-the-collar dirty cop is successful… successful because even after he’s done something good and just and right, you still don’t like him. You don’t like Joe Baylor because he’s just not likable, and I liked that. So often in film we have protagonists and antagonists, but rarely are both the same person in a realistic, rather unremarkable setting.
I liked the plot twist and enjoyed the fact that the whole film was shot from one setting— I found the approach interesting and engaging despite the fact that you never actually get to see any of the other characters.
The Guilty is a pretty original story that I enjoyed but am content with only viewing once. I’d suggest giving it a go, though!
