I post about movies on my instagram 🙂
Excellent premise and execution. Story had a good arc, but it was nothing. There's nothing special, just bunch of CGI and a load of Easter eggs. However, the actors and the references carried lot of the movie. Actors were the movie's main attraction. Ryan Reynolds was a star, as were Jodi Comer, Joe Keery, etc. It was great to see such chemistry between actors.
It is a well-made movie, but Peele really faltered here. The original Candyman is frightening, traumatic, horrifying, and stays with you very long. The 2021 version is a woke drama, lacking horror and suspense, and lacking character development.
The movie seemed scary in the trailer, but it turned out to be a political tool designed to shame Caucasians for poverty in minority neighborhoods. Despite the movie having only a few real horror scenes, most of it revolved around white people and police being evil and stereotypes about white people.
It's hard to believe that this movie was created by the same person who made "The Conjuring."

First of all, If you're watching Annette, you should definitely know what you're getting into. Watch some movies by Leos Carax and brace yourself for a few weird bits and things that may or may not make sense to you. This film was very weird. I usually like weird. I prefer weird. But this weirdness wasn't backed up by anything other than a solid Adam Driver acting performance
In addition, this was supposed to be a musical. Adam Driver is an excellent actor, but definitely not a singer. He can carry a tune, however.
