Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ★★★½

It's a movie with cool action scenes, and Marvel gave more attention to a different culture, but in the end of the day, it's just a Marvel movie. Let's start with things I didn't like. The story was set up as a study of the dad's relationship with his kids and blurred the lines of who was the bad guy, which was was interesting. But then they ditched it for a fight with dragons. It felt like the movie was working toward doing something out of the ordinary for Marvel and then they threw in scary dragons. I also hated some of the dialogue at the beginning of the movie that was basically narration. Any dialogue in the bars, I did not like. The good: the actions scenes were shot interestingly. I liked how the action was tracked, and while a little messy at times, it looked cool. The scene on the outside of the building was the stand-out sequence. The story was also entertaining and induced a few laughs. There was some bad and some good, but overall I was pretty neutral over most of the movie. Just another Marvel blockbuster in my eyes.
