Week 43: a movie by one of your favourite directors

"Honey, I am seven fox years old. My father died at seven and a half. I don’t want to live in a hole anymore, and I’m going to do something about it."

Although The Grand Budapest Hotel is by far my favourite Wes Anderson film, this one has the most emotional value for me. This is one of my dad's favourite movies, so growing up it became very well-loved by my entire family (minus my mom, she hates this film). We’ve watched it countless times. So as you can imagine, there's a lot of nostalgia tied to it.

Even if I were to ignore all of my personal bias towards the film I still think this is one of Wes Anderson's best. Dare I say his second masterpiece? It's equal parts charming, funny, and heartfelt. With just the right amount of quirkiness to make the story sing. Both the animation and cinematography are gorgeous to look at and Alexandre Desplat's score is, as usual, remarkably memorable.

Wes Anderson's films can be a bit of an acquired taste sometimes, but I really think that there's something for everyone with Fantastic Mr.Fox.
