Kaleb’s review published on Letterboxd:
The One and Only Ivan was a surprisingly good family film which has been lacking in 2020. Sam Rockwell does a good job and there’s something about his voice that just makes him so likeable which is great for voice work. Bryan Cranston is the villain of the story however you actually sympathize with him. I didn’t expect that.
The script is pretty generic with some well done emotional beats. The dialogue is what you would expect from a movie like this. I could predict exactly what they were going to say. The CGI is pretty good throughout which I was worried since it was coming to Disney+ and we all saw Artemis Fowl (well hopefully not all of us).
Overall one of the better movies to come to us from D+ so let’s see how Mulan does. I’m curious if anyone is going to shell out the $30 to watch it🤔
