    Winter Sleep

Ismail throws the money into the fire. Nihal is stunned, she stares at him with a dazed look on her face.
Ceylan sure loves Nastasya Filippovna and Dostoevsky.

"We didn't know how to be happy. So we may not know how to make others happy".

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom

"Kill me. At least God, whom I implore, will pity me. Kill me but don't dishonor me."

I didn't rewatch it (and I don't think I could ever watch it again) but I've been reading lately, some poems by Pasolini. He was a great poet and his multifaceted personality is admirable.

"Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma" reminds me the structure of Dante's Divine Comedy.
It's one of those films that you either love it or hate it.

    Poetic, metaphorical...dandelions, peach blossoms!

This movie is way ahead of its time, full of surrealism, the colors are visually pleasing. That running scene into Van Gogh's paintings made me cry. A personal catharsis...and yeah, man is a genius when he is dreaming, that's for sure.

That despised cigarette in the final scene must have tasted like heaven. He might have felt the real distance (uzak), finally at peace with himself, with his empty soul and his lost inspiration, not pretending to be an intellectual, or as if he enjoys Tarkovsky movies as we saw some sequences of Stalker and The mirror. On that bench, in the wind, in front of the sea ... he has accepted his own soul full of flaws.
