The Little Things

The Little Things ★★

I love me some Denzel. I am really hard-pressed to think of a film of his that I don't enjoy. He's one of those actors that is so fully confident in himself that his essence takes over the entire role and film that its in, as if every script that he has signed on to do was written specifically with him in mind. Unfortunately the phrase "exception to the rule" doesn't always refer to something in a positive light.

Another popular saying is "It's not about the destination, it's about the journey." I really wish I could hold that true with this one. I felt the journey was okay, but it wasn't until its conclusion did I realize any enjoyment I got from it was with the pretense that the story was going somewhere. Any remains of appreciation I had were obliterated when the credits began to roll and we were left judging our television screen with a very stern "What was the point of any of that?"

And this may be superficially judgmental, but Rami Malek has a unique face, but in a cold and non-emotive way. One of the more troubling things about this is that he is in a movie about a serial killer and somehow he isn't playing the serial killer.
