There is just something about some Miyazaki films that really clicks with me. In Kiki's Delivery Service, similarly to My Neighbor Totoro, there is such a lack of threat, badness, evil, and villainy, that is absolutely joyful and refreshing when so many animated films aimed at children tend to force these elements. It makes for an incredibly relaxed watch that honestly has messages that work better for young adults than little kids: not only the general one of being kind, but also how to avoid burning out when your passion becomes your work, and that finding time for yourself and to unwind is the best way to keep your morale and energy up. Incredibly genuine and touching, with gorgeous animation and painted backdrops, and characters that are so full of life they can only belong to the realm of animation! Thank you Netflix for sharing so many of these gems to be rediscovered and revisited.
