Film #4 : A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 Dream Warriors (1987)

“Welcome to prime time… BITCH”

The original “Nightmare on Elm Street” is one of my favourite horror movies but funnily I never watched any of the sequels or the reboot. I just never expected any of them to live up to the original. Despite my skepticism I decided to watch “Dream Warriors” because I always heard that this one and “A New Nightmare” are the good sequels. Holy shit I’m blown away. Nightmare 3 might even be better than the original in my opinion.

This movie was suspenseful and entertaining from beginning to end. None of the characters were sexualised or were written stupid for Story purposes. Patricia Arquette gives an amazing performance and Heather Langenkamp nails the role as Nancy again. Using a mental institution as a setting for a boogy man who kills in dreams is genius. The kills were also way more creative than in the first part. Freddy goes deep into the psyche of each kid and uses their fears or their guilt as bait to lure them into their deaths. His one liners are also funny as hell every time he murders someone. The music was quite catchy too. The victims in this slasher each have goals and have to work together to best Freddy. Having the victims fight back and grow a spine instead of just running for their life’s made this horror flick way more refreshing and entertaining.

I just love this movie. I’m so happy I chose this part for my hooptober list otherwise I don’t think  I would have watched this. Really looking forward to a new nightmare. If you have any other nightmare sequels for recommendation feel free to add them.
