It has been obvious for many, many years that the internet is a force of more harm than good and very likely to eventually bring about the end of civilization. Rarely, however, has that been exemplified as clearly as with the Blonde discourse. Jesus — and I cannot stress this enough — fucking Christ. Plenty of reasonable, intelligent people have seen and disliked (or even hated) Andrew Dominik’s film. They articulated their views professionally and maturely. Unfortunately, they are a small minority. The moral panic and hysteria is quite a sight to behold. Where is this energy for the actual tragedies and injustices in the world? Blonde is a movie. Hate it all you want, but it isn’t hurting you and it certainly isn’t hurting Norma Jeane Mortenson. The most pathetic thing of all is attacking people who like the film. Pro tip: typing profanity and insults in all caps doesn’t mean you’re right.
